Both the University and the Faculty offer a range of scholarships and awards to our students.

The University's awards include:

Domestic students

Undergraduate scholarships

A number of Faculty-specific undergraduate scholarships are awarded for undergraduate study.

Master's by Coursework bursaries

The Faculty of Science offers a number of Master's by Coursework bursaries:

  • These $2,000 merit bursaries are available to domestic students commencing a Master's by Coursework in the Faculty of Science in Semester 1 2015.
  • To be eligible, the student must have a WAM of 70 or above.
  • The bursaries are a one-off payment of $2,000.
  • The bursaries will be paid after the successful completion of 24 points of study.
  • Students do not need to apply. All students commencing a Science Master's coursework on a full-fee paying basis will be considered automatically.
  • Successful students will be notified by offer letter. Unsuccessful candidates will not be notified.

International students

University scholarships

The University of Western Australia invites high achieving students undertaking graduate studies to apply for a newly launched $2m scholarship program for coursework masters degrees.

Science International Postgraduate Merit scholarships

The Faculty of Science offers international students a number of Postgraduate Merit scholarships:

  • These scholarships are only available to full-fee paying international students who commence a Master's by Coursework in the Faculty of Science in 2015 or 2016.
  • Scholarships are valued at either $12,000 or $6,000 (payable after census date each semester) e.g. for the $12,000 scholarship, student will receive $3,000 each semester over the two year Master course.
  • Students who are in receipt of another scholarship (for example Australian Awards) are not eligible.
  • To be considered for an International Science Master's Merit Scholarship, applicants need to have accepted an offer for one of the Faculty of Science Master's courses.
  • Students do not need to apply. All international students commencing a Science Master's coursework will be considered automatically.
  • Candidates will be ranked by the Faculty of Science Scholarship Selection Committee. Selection will be based on academic merit.
  • Successful students will be notified. Unsuccessful candidates will not be notified.

Singaporean and Malaysian students

The Faculty of Science also awards a number of scholarships specifically for Singaporean and Malaysian students
