Faculty of Life and Physical Sciences

Bachelor of Science (Pharmaceutical Science)

The Pharmaceutical Science degree reflects the cross-disciplinary nature of therapeutic drug discovery, development and analysis.

Throughout the program there is a strong chemistry component, which parallels the essential role of chemistry in the pharmaceutical industry.

There is a solid introduction to biochemistry, molecular biology, physiology and genetics of humans and pathogens as a backdrop for understanding human disease, drug action and the principles of drug design.

Many facets of pharmaceutical development are covered, including drug discovery and optimisation (medicinal chemistry); pharmaceutical formulation, manufacture and quality control; and clinical trials and applications.
