Psychology is the study of mental processes and human behaviour with psychologists seeking to answer questions about how and why people behave the way they do.
It is a challenging discipline and involves the application of a number of scientific techniques in order to understand almost every aspect of our daily lives.
The Bachelor of Science (Psychology) leads to completion of a double major in psychology, which is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council and is required for entry to further study in Psychology.
A study of psychology is a useful preparation for any occupation in which knowledge of human and social behaviour and development is valuable (such as teaching, social work and politics).
There are opportunities for psychology graduates in government departments, including health, community services, education and disability services. Other major employers include welfare agencies, hospitals, tertiary institutions and private enterprise including management consultancy. There has been a strong growth in the employment of psychologists in human resource management, training and organisational development.
