Scholarships

The faculty offers a number of specific science scholarships, with more general scholarships available from the Scholarships Office.

Why do honours?

Completing an honours project allows you to demonstrate to potential employers that you are:

  • a high achiever
  • committed to realising your goals
  • able to take responsibility for a project
  • work to a high standard.

It is also a necessary step to postgraduate study.

Honours is a final, usually fourth, year of study. You continue to focus on your major subjects while developing research, time management, problem solving, communication and other useful skills.

To be eligible, you must achieve at least a 65 per cent weighted average in the level three units in the major which you intend to undertake honours.

Honours is usually a combination of coursework and dissertation, although this may vary from school to school. See the Undergraduate Handbook for more information.

Honours applications are made online via studentConnect between November 16, 2009 and January 13, 2010 (except Psychology students who should contact the School of Psychology for further information).

Students who have not been previously enrolled at UWA must apply through the Admissions Office.

Specialist degrees

We offer a specialist degree which requires a fourth year of study. Eligible students can apply to transfer into this specialist degree after completing the appropriate three-year Bachelor of Science  program or major, or equivalent.

The degree awarded will be in place of the Bachelor of Science, such as Bachelor of Exercise Rehabilitation Science. In some cases, it may be awarded with honours.
