BSc (Conservation Biology and Land Management)

I have always had a keen interest in the biological sciences and the great outdoors.

After finishing high school and working a variety of different jobs, I decided to pursue a career in which I could contribute to conserving our irreplaceable biodiversity.

I chose UWA because of its reputation as a premier learning establishment, and chose Conservation Biology and Management because it offered the chance to develop a deeper understanding of the biological world and to apply this knowledge to solving complex conservation issues.

A healthy dose of both practical and relevant fieldwork also helped to provide a context for much of the theoretical grounding.

The fieldwork component of this degree also exposes students to a variety of different potential employers including government departments, environmental consultants, mining companies and wildlife groups.

As a result of these opportunities I was able to gain valuable work experience during my studies which culminated in a job offer from a top consulting company before I had even graduated.
