B. Phys & Health Education
(1st Class Hons);
Completing D.Phil
Biomechanist, AIS

I had wanted to study Physiotherapy, but completed the Human Movement degree first and loved it.

The course exposed me to and developed my interest in sports science, in particular Biomechanics. This led to me pursuing Honours in Biomechanics, following which I received a scholarship to undertake a PhD.

My interest was in the area of injury, specifically knee injury prevention and became a biomechanist at the Australian Institute of Sport.

My role is to provide biomechanical services to various Institute sports: canoe slalom, canoe sprint, football, noxing, gymnastics, netball and volleyball. I get to work with Australia's elite athletes, best coaches and sports scientists, and use the most advanced equipment. I often travel to work with teams at their training and competition venues, both in Australia and abroad.
