BSc Horticulture and Viticulture

Weekly wine tastings were a necessary part of my university curriculum.

I completed a degree in horticulture and viticulture, majoring in wine making.

We used to get together once a week to analyse different wines and of course that required tasting them! I chose the horticulture and viticulture degree because I wanted to do an applied science that would allow me to work outdoors.

I’ve always enjoyed science, and wine making involves a lot of biology and organic chemistry.

IA highlight of the degree was a year at the University of Adelaide, one of the top wine research centres in the world. The year was a fantastic opportunity to put theory into practice. The campus has a winery and vineyard on site as well as researchers who are keen to interact with and help the students.
