Faculty of Life and Physical Sciences

Credit for prior study

UWA and the Faculty of Life and Physical Sciences may approve up to a maximum of 48 points (one year) of credit for a relevant Polytechnic diploma completed at the required standard.

The choice of credited units depends on the program which the student is taking and the strengths of the results in the completed Polytechnic diploma. For full credit for the BSc (Biomedical Science), BSc (Biomedical Genetics), BSc (Molecular Biology and Biotechnology) and BSc (Pharmaceutical Science), students should have the following in their completed diploma:

  • Mathematics and statistics - B average over at least two units
  • Chemistry (physical, inorganic and organic) - B average over at least two units

Credit arrangements for students who do not fulfil the above criteria are assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Comparable credit arrangements are available for students studying on the main UWA campus in Perth.
