Taking a year off

To take a year off from your degree, you need to apply for approved leave.

If you withdraw from all units during your first year without being granted approved leave, you will need to reapply via TISC in order to start again.

If withdraw from all units in a subsequent year without approved leave, you will need to reapply via the admissions office.

Time off to play sport

You can apply for an approved absence from studies to compete in State or national  sporting events.

You will need to: 

• obtain a letter from the relevant sporting organisation, explaining the event and the dates involved
• complete a special consideration form [PDF, 263 kb]
• talk with a faculty adviser about your request.
