Full policy

The faculty's policy in principle is to grant credit for units of study passed in a degree course at a recognised tertiary institution, or a completed diploma course at AQF level, where the units are directly equivalent to units in a course in this Faculty, or are judged to be adequate in level and content to provide the prerequisite for units at a higher level.

Students should note:

  • granting of credit is entirely at the faculty's discretion
  • the amount of credit granted will be limited by the rules and requirements of the particular course and program
  • the faculty may grant unspecified credit, within the points limits allowed by the particular course
  • credit will normally be granted only for units in which a clear pass has been achieved, without supplementary assessment
  • a provisional assessment of credit can be made in advance, but it will be formally approved only when a student is enrolled in a course in the faculty
  • credit will normally be assessed by the academic student adviser, who will refer where necessary to appropriate academic staff
  • where credit is granted towards a course, the course must be completed within the time-limit specified in the rules for that course, counting from the start of the prior study for which credit is granted
  • a unit that is providing the prerequisite for a higher-level unit must normally have been completed within the preceding four years.

It is the responsibility of the student seeking credit to submit a request to the faculty on the appropriate form and to provide full details of the units for which credit is sought.
